Gerald L. Morgan, Sr., 90, of Mathews passed away peacefully on March 7th, 2017.
Gerald was the son of Luther and Helen Morgan. He was a Mathews High School graduate of 1944. He served as a Merchant Marine. Gerald acquired his Captain's license in New York and served as the Captain of an oil tanker. His Master Captains license with unlimited tonnage for the whole East Coast is on display at the Mariner's Museum in Newport News. He was also a pilot for Chesapeake and Interstate Pilot's Association.
Gerald was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Caroline Bramen. Gerald was a devoted husband to Eleanor D. Morgan for 70 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children; Gerald L. Morgan, Jr, Robert Keith Morgan, John Chris Morgan and Lisa Morgan Temple; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Morgan and sister, Janet Hunley.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Mathews Riverside Convalescent Center for their tremendous service, love and friendship.
Viewing for family and friends will be held at the Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, VA on Saturday, March 11 at 1:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm with burial to follow at St. Paul Annex Cemetery.
