Gladys "Shorty" Brooks

Gladys Lorraine Balderson Brooks “Shorty”, 82, of Center Cross, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene B. Brooks; parents, Louis and Gladys Balderson; brother, Alvin Balderson, Sr., and her grand-daughter, Cathy Lynn Dean. She is survived by her daughters, Jean Dean (Carson), Teresa English; son, Douglas Brooks (Marlo); five grandchildren, Carson Jr. “Pee Wee” Jonathan, Alex, Damian, Wyatt; four great-grandchildren, Davis Richardson, Anne Blanche Barnette, John Corbin English, and Winston Barnette, and sister-in-law, Joan Balderson.

Funeral services will be held at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Oldhams at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 10th, 2025. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Faulkner Funeral Home, Marks-Bristow Chapel, Tappahannock, Virginia is assisting the family with arrangements.
