Glen Douglas Pond, born September 8,1936, of West Point, Virginia, passed away on June 1, 2017. A celebration of his life will be held June 11, 2:00 p.m. at Dream Catchers Therapeutic Riding Center, 10120 Fire Tower Road, Toano, Virginia 23168. Family and friends are all welcome to attend. Glen is survived by his wife, Joan; his brother, Dana; his daughters, Jan (David) Phillips, Kara (Chris) McCarthy, Gail (Scott) Willard; stepchildren, James Dixon, Amy (Brett) Dixon, Tricia (Joseph) Kniatt; and 15 loving grandchildren. Glen received his masters in education from American University and began his career as an elementary school teacher and principal, he worked for the Virginia Education Association and spent the majority of his career as director of the Virginia Retirement System. He truly loved his adopted home town of Urbanna, Virginia. The Oyster Festival was his passion.
