Gordon “Gordy” Ray Fincham, 83, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love ones, on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at his home on Gwynns Island. Gordy was born on April 22, 1939 in Webster Springs, West Virginia to the late Mr. Robert Willis Fincham & Talya Kelley Fincham. He was one of 7 children.
He served in the United States Army as an M.P. for 3 years. He retired in 2014 from Star Fields formally known as D&P Flag Factory in Cobbs Creek, Virginia. Gordy had a love for fishing from a young age and it continued through his adult life. He loved the water and his boat and had numerous fishing friends. His favorite catch was speckled trout and his friends nicknamed him Mr. 750 after the 750-fishing lure. He loved trains, being with family and friends. He always made everyone feel loved and had the best hugs.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his brothers Bob Fincham, Eddie Fincham. sisters Helen Bosley, Donna Gibson, Brenda Richmond, son Stephen Forrest, grandson Jeremy Forrest.
Gordy is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Barbara Fincham of Gwynn, 2 sons – Gordon/Jaclyn Fincham, Autryville, N.C., Tim Forrest, Port Haywood VA, 2 daughters – Robin/Paul Hartman, Williamsburg, VA, Lynne/Rodney Martin, Woodford, VA, son-in-law/friend Dale Vencill, King William, sister Marcia/James Meadows, Nettie, West VA, sister-in-law Sandra/Roy Williams, Cobbs Creek and his loving dog Sadie. He is survived by 13 grandchildren, Chris/Meghan Trinkle, Paul/Samantha Fincham, Rachel/Miguel Ciceraro, Richard/Kelly Fincham, Abby & Isabel Fincham, Josh/Kayla Vencill, Laura/Cordell Hood, Adam, Hannah, Miah, Jonah and Luke Wilder. He is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 21, 2022 from 1 – 3:00 p.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia with a graveside service to follow at Gwynn’s Island Cemetery.
