Gordon Hayes

Gordon F. Hayes, Sr., 89, of Champlain passed away peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his family, on Monday, May 6, 2019. He was the owner of Hayes Logging. Gordon was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Hayes and his son, Gordon F. Hayes, Jr. He is survived by ten children, Ruth Hayes of Caret, Kitty Limerick of Chester, Ruby Lee of Tappahannock, Grace Bundy of New Jersey, Kathy Hayes, Wortley Hayes and Bob Hayes of Caret, Bertha Reynolds of Tappahannock, Harold Hayes and Thomas Hayes of Caret; one sister, Bertha Seay of Fredericksburg; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the graveside in Upper Essex Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend S. Roy Foster officiating. Pallbearers will be Jason Hayes, Gene Carter, Greg Mitchell, Bland Motley, Jr., Garland Smith and Harry Clarke. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 8th at the Faulkner Funeral Homes, Marks-Bristow Chapel, Tappahannock.
