Grace Delmer

Grace Elizabeth Bristow Delmer, 92, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2016. She was born in Deltaville, VA on July 24, 1923. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Frances McLemore. Survivors include her son, Richard Delmer, granddaughter Jennifer McLemore Bartram (Ricky), grandson, Andrew McLemore, great-granddaughter, Tesla Bartram, and niece, Lynn Parrish and nephew, Robert Marks. Liz (as she was known) was devoted to her family, a Master Gardener, a wonderful cook, and a dedicated servant of Philippi Christian Church, serving in many capacities. She was a trustee, an elder, a Sunday school teacher, a district representative, and served on several committees. Prior to re-locating to Deltaville, she worked in Richmond at the Defense General Supply Center for many years. She was known for her dry wit, as many can attest to, including the loving, caring staff at Gloucester House, where she spent her last years. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 11 am at Philippi Christian Church in Deltaville, VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ms. Delmer’s memory may be made to Philippi Christian Church, to the Mildred Barnes Scholarship Fund.
