Howard Porter Broaddus, 90, of Dutton, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Riverside-Mathews Convalescent Center, Mathews, Virginia.
He was a member of Botetourt Lodge A.F. & A. M. No. 7, Gloucester, Virginia and a member of Olive Branch United Methodist Church. Howard retired from the United States Coast Guard after many years of service and served 4 years in the U.S. Navy. After retirement, he was employed at the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown, Virginia. He loved attending car shows.
He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy Hudgins Broaddus and a sister, Elva Floy Shinaberry.
He is survived by sons, George Martin Broaddus and wife Tina, Don Ray Hudgins and wife Donna Blankenship and Paul G. Hudgins; a daughter, Joanne Sumner; grandchildren, Fallon Diggs, Jason Hudgins, Candace Segalini, Jeremy, Tristan, Logan, Jared, Mallory Sumner and many great-grandchildren and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 23, 2021 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia with a Masonic Service held at 5:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with burial to follow in Olive Branch Cemetery, Harcum, Virginia.
