Iona Ransone

On January 13, 2019, Iona M. Ransone, loving mother of four children, passed away at the age of 86. Iona was born on November 30, 1932 in Locklies, VA to Thomas and Mamie Mason. In December of 1952, she married Harry W. Ransone and moved to Topping, VA, where together they raised two daughters and two sons. She was an active member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church where she served as deaconess, Sunday school teacher, and member of the Chancel Choir. She had a passion for music, playing the piano, and singing with the Christian Heirs Quartet.

Iona was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter, Tammy Ransone Gettings. She is survived by her children, Stephen (Linda) Ransone, Urbanna, VA; Carroll Ransone, St. Augustine, FL; Audrey (Art) Savage, Burleston, TX, and son-in-law Linwood Gettings, Chester, VA; two grandsons, Austin Shumaker of Michigan and Christopher Savage of Texas; two granddaughters, Monica Ransone and Amanda (Chris) Moore, two great-grandchildren, Mason and Lola Moore, all of Florida.

A funeral service will be at held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Harmony Grove Baptist Church, 7662 General Puller Hwy, Topping, Virginia The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
