Irma Lawson

Irma Lee Blake Lawson, 95, of Topping, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015. She was born on February 16, 1920. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Sisco Blake; her husband of 56 years, Walter L. Lawson, Sr.; three sisters, Abbie Lawson, Bernice Mason, and Ruby Rowe and four brothers, Reuben Blake, Jr., Ernest Blake, Sr., Fleet Hibble and Dave Hibble; and grandson, Charles Stanley Lawson, Jr. Irma was a long-time member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church in Topping. For more than thirty years, she was the Sunday School Teacher of the Church’s Nursery Department and was active in many other programs of the Church. After her children were grown, she was employed as a Caregiver at Mizpah Health Care Center in Locust Hill and later on was employed as a Caregiver at Sunset View Home in Topping. She is survived by two sons, Walter L. Lawson, Jr. (Evelyna) and Charles Stanley Lawson, Sr. (Kathleen); a daughter, Barbara Lawson Jenkins; seven grandchildren, David Lawson, Janet Lawson Bromley (Thomas), Julie Lawson Horner (Jerry), Debbie Lawson Warren (Richard), Jennifer Lawson Eley, Charles M. Jenkins, Jr., and James W. Jenkins (Wendy); ten great-grandchildren, Stephanie Lawson, Carissa Horner, Breanna Taylor (Cameron), Mary Ellen Warren, Lee Milby, Jacob Lawson, Luke Lawson, Adam Jenkins, Gavin Jenkins, and Savannah Jenkins; and two great-great-grandchildren, Silas Lanier and Tristan Taylor. She is also survived by a sister, Alma Blake Lawson, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday in Harmony Grove Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday. Arrangements by Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda.
