Jacqueline N. Kent, age 81, passed away January 7, 2023, after battling a long illness. Jacqueline was born February 10, 1941, the daughter of Francis D. Nance and Violet Nunn. She is survived by her husband, Hugh W. Kent Jr, two sons, Eric Kent and Christopher Kent, and their wives Beth and Heather. She was especially close to cousins, Jody Holland, Linda Taylor, Nancy Cote, and Andy Giles and his wife Celia, and enjoyed the company of many friends from northern Virginia and Middlesex County.
Jacqueline was a person of many interests and talents. She was a Master Gardner, a horticulturist, a florist, a quilter, an artist, a potter, a pianist, a carpenter, and an avid reader, among many other endeavors. She enjoyed listening to classical music. She held certificates from George Washington University in landscape design and woody plants. She was an expert in Japanese flower arranging, completing the Advanced Course at the Ohara School of Ikebana. She served as a docent at the U.S. National Arboretum in Washington, DC. She was never afraid of a challenge—she built a fireplace and managed the construction of a house. She was an entrepreneur, twice owning successful businesses. She was a loving and dedicated mother and a devoted wife of over sixty years. And she was a dear friend to many.
