James Bateman

James Irdell “Jim” Bateman Jr., 74 of Deltaville, VA. suddenly passed away in the early morning of Friday, December 16, 2016 at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News, VA. He was born November 7, 1942 to the late James I. and Nina Paige Bateman in Newport News, VA. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Patricia “Pat” Holsclaw Bateman and son and best fishing buddy, Jay. He is also survived by his brother, Dale (Sara); his sister Patsy Harris (Chuck); his mother-in-law, Lucille Holsclaw and nieces and nephews. He grew up in Newport News, graduated from Warwick High School and later graduated from Randolph Macon College in Ashland, VA. Jim retired from Micro View in Richmond, VA. after 35 years and moved to his favorite place, Deltaville, VA. to enjoy boating and fishing. He was a member of the Chesapeake Hunt Club in New Kent County and was also a member and Junior Steward of Donovan Masonic Lodge #75 A.F. & A.M. in Deltaville. A memorial Service will be held at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home in Saluda, VA. at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017.
