James Dreelin

James (Jim) A. Dreelin, Jr., of Dutton, was granted his angel wings on September 24th 2012 in Richmond. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that he had touched in some small way throughout his long and very memorable life. Jim was born January 28th, 1932, in Richmond, to the late James A. Sr. and Kathleen Dreelin. He graduated from Benedictine High School in 1949 and enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserve. He was a lifetime 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and held the positions of Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator. In addition, to his work with the Knights of Columbus he was a member of the American Legion Post 83, Hudgins and a beloved member of the Church of the Visitation Catholic Church in Topping. Jim’s career path spanned many different professions including the Richmond News Leader, the Collegiate Schools, and Simmons, Rockecharlie, & Prince Architectural Firm as a bookkeeper. Jim is survived by his dearly loved wife of 60 years, Jean Dreelin. He is also survived by his four sons, Danny and his wife Audrey from Port Republic, Chris and his wife Jan, Shawn and his wife Lana, and Greg and his wife Debbie all from Richmond. The grandchildren are Jason Dreelin and his wife Camille, Kevin Dreelin, Colin Dreelin, Stephanie Stewart her husband Bobby Stewart, Alex Dreelin, Kellie and Erin Dreelin Brittany Galkowski and her husband Erick Galkowski, Loran Dreelin, and Zachery Dreelin. Then lastly his great grandchildren, Aidyn Dreelin, Lincoln Dreelin, Annabell Stewart, Aleksandra “Lexi” Galkowski. He is survived by his sisters Ann Shepard of Melbourne, FL and Eileen Alexander of Beaverdam, his brothers Michael Dreelin of Hartfield and Tom Dreelin of Gordonsville. A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 28 at the Church of the Visitation, 8462 General Puller Hwy., Topping, (804-758-5160). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Church of the Visitation, PO Box 38, Topping, VA 23169.  Arrangements by Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda.
