James M. Godsey, "Dickie", 86, of Hampton, Virginia, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016 after a very brief illness. He was born to Fannie and John Godsey. He is predeceased by his sister, Margaret Polakiewicz. He attended Mathews High School. Dickie lived in Hampton, Virginia for 48 years. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and Army and retired from Newport News Shipbuilding after 30 years as a machinist. His hobbies include farming, small engine and electronics repair, fishing nets, watching nascar racing, golf, and football. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Sandra Fitchett; a son, James, Jr. (Laurie); his daughters, Elizabeth and Tina; granddaughter, Nicole; grandsons, Jacob, Zachary and Casey (Sarai); great-grandchildren, Elanie and Timothy. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from noon-1:00 pm at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, Virginia. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 pm with burial to follow in Gwynn's Island Cemetery.
