James Monroe Hall, age 93 of Glenns, went to be with the Lord on October 30, 2017. Monroe served in the Army in WWII. He retired from Chesapeake Corporation in 1986. Monroe was a member of First Assembly of God Church at Shacklefords. He was a devoted Christian man that loved his family. He was an avid vegetable gardener. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvin C. Hall and Mattie Goode Hall; his sisters, Ida Bell Hall and Maggie Haynes. Monroe is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mildred M. Hall; sons, Donald Hall (Peggy), David Hall (Ann), and Jimmy Hall (Beverly); daughter, Betty H. Lowney (Wayne); 6 grandchildren, Judy South, Michael Lowney, Troy Hall, Stacey Hall, Donald Lee Hall, Jamie Hall; 9 great grandchildren, Jordan South, Cameron South, Devin Lowney, Trey Hall, Jackie Hall, Logan Hall, Sarah Hall, Alyssa Hall, Gracie Hall; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 2pm, Thursday, November 2. Burial will follow at New Hope United Methodist Church at 2466 Lewis B. Puller Memorial Hwy., Saluda.
