James Elmer Hudgins, Jr.

James Elmer “Squeeky” Hudgins, Jr., age 82, of Mathews, Virginia, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, April 12, 2025. He is survived by his significant other of 19 years, Debbie Farmer.

He was a 1961 graduate of Mathews High School, a member of Gwynn’s Island Baptist Church, the Welding Unions, Moss Point No. 202, F & AM, Mississippi, the Shriners, Virginia Waterman’s Association, where he previously served as Vice President, the Republican National Committee and the Lane Armstead Camp #1772 in Mathews. He also served in both the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard for a total of 33 years.

He is also survived by his son, Howard E. Hudgins (Ladona) and their children, Zachery, Emily and Ashley; his son, James E. Hudgins, III and his children, James, Austin and Justin; his daughter, Jennifer L. Ricketts (Aaron) and her daughter, Erica; 4 great-grandchildren, Kiley Nicole Hudgins, Oakley River Hudgins, Gunner Pearce Hudgins and Reese Hudgins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Gwynn’s Island Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Gwynn’s Island Cemetery and the family invites friends back to the church for a reception. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Faulkner-Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews.
