James A. “Jimmie” Jessie, Sr., 67 of Hartfield passed away on Monday March 26, 2018. He was preceded in death by his son, James A. Jessie, Jr. his parents Annie and Ryland Jessie, Sr. and his brother Ryland Jessie, Jr. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Judy Jessie, a daughter Angel Ford (Jamie), a son Justin A. Jessie (Elizabeth), and a daughter-in-law Sarah E. Jessie of Henrico, one brother Tommy (Gloria) and a sister Suzanne Davis (Burton). Jim was blessed with eight grandchildren, Adam and Lauren Ford, Hannah, Grace, Caroline, Justin, Courtney and Carly Jessie and one great grandson Lucas Ford and a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends. Jim was a lifelong resident of Middlesex, where he worked for his father W. Ryland Jessie, Sr. as a Marine Contractor. Jim started his own business J. A. Jessie and Sons, Marine Contracting. Jim served as a loyal and dedicated Deputy Sheriff with the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office from April 1978 until 1991, where he retained the rank of Captain, Chief Deputy; before ending his service. Jim was a quiet, kind, and compassionate man, true to his word and a true friend in deed, he knew no strangers and would lend a hand to anyone in need. Jim will be sorely missed by all. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Clarksbury United Methodist Church, in Deltaville, Virginia.
