James Johnson

James Oran Johnson, 88, of Deltaville, was called home to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 24, 2013. He was born on March 13, 1925 in Deltaville. He was one of the founders and coached for many years in the Middlesex Boys Baseball League. He was also a past member of the Lower Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department and a life-long member of Zoar Baptist Church. He was an avid gardener and fisherman and spent many hours enjoying these activities. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Johnson; sisters, Edith Faulkner and Mary Ruth Selby; children, Cathy Milton, Jimmy Johnson (Mary) and David Johnson, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Saturday, December 28th from 10:00 to 11:00am followed by a funeral service at Zoar Baptist Church, Deltaville. Interment will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Zoar Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 1010 or the Lower Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 440, both in Deltaville, VA 23043.
