James V. Morgan, age 92, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church for 70 years, where he was active in the choir. He was a lifelong commerical waterman and he worked for 17 years and retired from the Zapata Haynie Company. He was a veteran in World War II and a member of Oriental Lodge No. 20 AF & AM for 60 years.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary H. Morgan; son, Richard H. Morgan (Pat) of Gwynn, Virginia; daughter, Ellen Rilee of Gloucester, VA; two grandchildren, Jessica Gayle (Blaine) and James Rilee(Casey) both of Gloucester; two great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Gayle and Aidan Rilee and his beloved dogs, Chevy and Missy.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 from 6 – 8 pm with a Masonic Service at 7 pm at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, Virginia. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 11:00 am at Bethel United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Pear Tree Cemetery, Onemo, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bethel UMC Building Fund, 1581 Garden Creek Road, Mathews, VA 23109.
