On Sunday, May 30, 2021, James “Jim” Wilbert Taylor, our loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away at the age of 80. Jim, the only child of Ruby (Carter) and Clarence Taylor was born on August 15, 1940 in Upright, Virginia. He joined the U.S Marines in 1961 and served 6 years earning his GED and the rank of Lance Corporal before being honorably discharged in 1967. During his time in the Marines he served in Puerto Rico, Spain, Vietnam, and the United States. After he left the Marines, he met and married Nancy Jane Worrell who had two children, Frank and Debra. He and Nancy added to their family with the addition of a daughter, Ann Mae.
Jim will be remembered as having a great sense of humor and being able to tell some great stories about his time at Camp Lejeune. He loved being around his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Fannie Mae Carter who raised him. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Nancy Jane Taylor; three children Ann Mae Taylor, Franklin E. Worrell, Jr. and Debra Worrell Jones; four grandchildren: Tashia Taylor Rose, Earl Wilson Jones III (his wife Pam), Elizabeth Anne Jones (Stephen) and Amanda Jane Gadd (her husband Barry). He also had six great-grandchildren which he adored: William, Holly, Hunter, Sarah, Ashling, & Olivia.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 5 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Marks-Bristow Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 6, at 2:00pm at the Carter Family Cemetery, 2398 Boston Rd, Dunnsville, VA.
