Janet Kroskey

December 31, 1969 — May 1, 2023

Janet Manuela Kroskey, 75, of Port Haywood, VA, passed on Monday, May 1, 2023.

She received her bachelor’s degree from Sacramento State University.

Janet then went on to marry her husband John in Switzerland while living in Germany. She served in the armed forces in Germany, South Korea, and Ft. Eustis here in Virginia. After completing four years enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, she served eighteen years in the U.S. Army as an officer retiring with the rank of Major. She spent fifteen years in civil service in the army transportation school at Ft. Eustis. Cooking, gardening, beekeeping, reading mystery novels, and feeding humming birds were all things Janet loved to do.

She is survived by her loving husband John Lawton Priest of Port Haywood; her son, Daniel Priest of Charlottesville; her daughter, Carrie Bowers (Jason) of Newport News and her dogs Xena and Belle.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Middlesex Shooting Sports Club, 1860 Twiggs Ferry Road, Hartfield, VA 23071.

Interment with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 9:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society at www.gmhumanesociety.org/donate.html.
