The morning of December 27, 2024, our Meme, Janet Tomlin Marshall (88), met her Lord. She was greeted by her husband of 66 years, Clarence “Elmo” Marshall, daughter, Vicky Timmons, and son, Michael Marshall.
Born in Nelson County, Janet moved to Middlesex County in 1950 where she met and married Elmo. She was longtime member of Hermitage Baptist Church, where she was active in the women’s mission group. After she retired from the Middlesex County clerk’s office, she returned to work for the commissioner of revenue's office, before officially retiring in 2002.
At home, she helped her husband run C.E. Marshall Seafood, enjoyed maintaining her flower beds, canning any vegetable she could get and always made sure her grandchildren knew how much she loved them. With a smile on her face, Janet was always willing to have a chat with a friend, a neighbor or family member.
Left to cherish her memory is her granddaughter, Ashley Timmons (Norfolk); grandsons, Christopher Marshall (Church View) and Marshall Timmons (Norfolk); great-granddaughters, Michaela, Abi and Carley, and great-great grandson, Logan, as well as multiple nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held at Hermitage Baptist Church on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. and interment.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Upper Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 75, Church View, VA 23032 or to Hermitage Baptist Church, P.O. Box 190., Church View, VA 23032
