Miss Janice Brewington Miller transitioned to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, October 7, 2022. Outgoing, generous and loving, she was known by all who met and knew her. A native of Mathews County, she remained a lifelong resident. The highlights of her life were husband Claiborne Miller, her four children, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her love of her Lord and church. She was an avid singer in the church choir and the ultimate gardener with an unparalleled ‘green thumb’.
Janice was a long and faithful member of St. Paul United Methodist Church for more than 70 years. She was one of the founding members of the United Methodist Women’s Group at St. Paul in 1955. Additionally, she served as the Chairman of the Board, the Flower Chairman and was a highly valued member of the church choir. She was a pillar in the Mathews Woman’s Club, the Homemakers Club, and a member of the Eastern Star.
She has been preceded in her transition by her husband, Charles Claiborne Lane Miller; brothers, Randolph Brewington, Paul Brewington; sisters, Kathleen Williams, Phyllis Bunch, Norma Jean Surwila; and son in law Willie Owens. She is survived by her brother; John Brewington; daughters, Ann Davis (Stephen), Pam Morris (Nelson), Catherine Owens; and son, John Claiborne Miller III (Sheryl); grandchildren, Jeffrey Robins (Kati), Tom Davis, Laura Davis, Brent Morris (Rachel), Megan Thacker (Kevin), Amanda Kemp (Austin) and Brian Owens; great grandchildren, Charley and Maggie Robins, Paige and Luke Morris, Leyton Thacker, and Tyler Lane Kemp.
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church, on Monday, October 10. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 2:00 p.m., with burial immediately following.

Janice will be forever loved and greatly missed by all who knew her, but we do not grieve.
