Janis Waddell

Janis Weddington Waddell passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at her residence in Mathews, Virginia (Birdwood). Janis was born in Concord, NC on April 7, 1942. She grew up in Florence, SC, moved to Northern, VA in 1965. Later settled in Mathews in 1992. She fell in love with the community and her home. Her life was full of many loving friends and traveling to many wonderful places with her husband and friends. She also, had a passion for cooking, gardening and good wine. She leaves behind her loving husband, Dick Waddell; her cherished sister, Ellen Maxwell (David) and children, Todd Williamson, Richard Williamson (Christine), Steven Waddell and Deborah Miller (Bob); along with 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and her loving feline companion Shadow. The Family will receive friends on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 5 – 7pm at the residence on 1016 New Point Comfort Hwy., Mathews, Virginia. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 11 am at Faulkner Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, 160 Main Street, Mathews, Virginia. A reception will follow after the service at the Waddell residence. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 1:00pm at Mount Comfort Cemetery at 6600 Kings Hwy, Alexandria, Virginia 22306. A reception to follow at the chapel at Mount Comfort Cemetery.In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 723, Mathews, Virginia 23109.
