Carolyn Clark “Jeannie” Brown, 71, of Tappahannock passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. . Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Vernell Clark and her brother Lloyd Clark. She was a lifetime member of Upper Essex Baptist Church and retired employee of the Bank of Essex. She was a member of the Ladies of the Essex County Farm Bureau.
Jeannie is survived by her devoted husband J. Carroll Brown, Jr.; her two daughters, Christy Brown of Mechanicsville and Ashley Griffin (Rick) of Tappahannock; her grandchildren Avery Griffin, Berkley Hammond and Harper Griffin; “her third daughter” Sheila Loving of Richmond and her brother Boyd W. Clark of Champlain.
A private service will be held in Upper Essex Baptist Church at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 18, 2021 but available to all on FM radio 88.7 in the church parking lot. The Reverend S. Roy Foster will officiate. An open graveside service in the church cemetery will follow for anyone who feels comfortable to attend. Please be advised that current state-mandated guidelines will apply to all in attendance, including social distancing and appropriate face coverings. Pallbearers will be Lloyd Mundie, Barry Bates, Ralph Elliott, Dalton Carter, Dick Bates and John Mason Hundley.
