Jo Jones

Jo Ann Jones of Cardinal, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. Jo Ann was born in Columbia, SC on October 15, 1941, into a catholic orphanage. She was later adopted by a Kentucky family. While still very young she and her new parents moved to Clearwater, Fl. She graduated there and later came to Virginia where she met Gerald and worked at the store. Jo Ann loved bowling, swimming, cooking, playing cards, talking on the phone, flowers and traveling. Jo Ann was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Mobjack, Virginia. She was an active member of their United Methodist Women’s group, the active adult’s group, the choir, and many of the mission projects. She was also a member of the Mathews Lions Club, the Piankatank Ruritan Club, a past member of the Red Hat Society and the Mathews Women’s Club.

Jo Ann was predeceased by her parents, Dr. Eugene Love and Alberta N. Love; step-brother, E. W. Love; her husband, Gerald Jones; her son, C. Eugene Jones; a brother-in-law, Gordon M. Jones and a nephew, Robert G. (Bobby) Jones.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Jones Hernandez; three grandchildren, Vallin Jenkins, Lauren Jones and Justin Jones; sister-in-law, Charlotte Jones; nephew, Sands G. Jones II (Christine); nieces, Karen J. Barrick (Timmy), Patty J. White (Gerry), Judy J. Zanette (Shawn) and many other nieces, nephews and cousins from Virginia and Kentucky.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with private burial at Providence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mathews Lions Club, P.O.
