Joseph Allan “Joey” Adcock age 30, of Mathews passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.
Joey is survived by his loving parents, Earl and Donna Adcock of Mathews; his brother, Chris Adcock and sister-in-law Liz Burke of Midlothian; niece and nephews, Owen, Alice, and Emmett Adcock; many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly. He is also survived by the love of his life, Shannon Dorfman, his longtime girlfriend of Gloucester.
Joey was a seasonal grounds keeper for the last 2 years at Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club. He was a graduate of Mathews High School, class of 2008 and was a member of the Mathews Golf Team. He attended Thomas Nelson Community College, where he studied auto mechanics. Joey was a certified gold level bowling coach, winning many championships and awards. He competed against the best bowlers in the state of Virginia, and was especially proud of his Virginia Commonwealth game medals. During one game, Joey achieved an almost near perfect game score of 298.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 24, 2020 from 3-5:00 p.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 25th at 2:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad, 94 Cricket Hill Road, Hudgins, Virginia 23076.
