Descendant of a noble Polish family, Lilyanna was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1933. Just before the second World War, her family moved to Sofia, Bulgaria, where she spent most of her life as an exemplary business partner, passionate wife, devoted mother, and caregiving daughter to her own parents.
Born and raised with the values of strong Roman Catholic tradition, Liliyanna was one of the most beloved leading figures into the congregation of the St. Joseph’s Concathedral in Sofia, and with her generosity, wisdom, and open mind, she touched the hearts of many far beyond the catholic community. She was “wearing many hats” as a civil Franciscan nun from the Third Order.
On our invitation, Mother Liliyanna arrived in Virginia to be with my wife Konstantina through her final battle with cancer. Since her daughter’s passing, Liliyanna’s health worsened progressively till our beloved Mother passed away on October 12th, at the Health and Rehab facility in Fredericksburg, VA. Always gentle and sweet, she left her mark in the hearts of those who ever met her, and I’m sure Liliyanna will be dearly missed and never forgotten!
Ignat Konstantinov (Liliyanna’s son-in-law)
