Linda Creel Ittner, 68, of Port Haywood, VA passed away from this life on December 14, 2018 after a long brave battle with cancer. Her end was peaceful surrounded by family and friends. Linda is survived by her husband of 34 years, Wayne Ittner; her son David Truitt; daughter Patricia French; three brothers, Donnie, Mike and Bobby; three step-daughters, Hillary, Crystal and Tanya and twelve grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Jean Creel of Dutton, VA. and her beloved sister Patty.
Linda was born in Northern, VA on December 30, 1949 and was a graduate of Falls Church High School. Linda and Wayne made their home in Spotsylvania and she was employed by the United States Department of Navy. Her 25 year career included time in Crystal City, VA, Washington D.C. and Cheatham Annex in Williamsburg. Linda and Wayne moved to Mathews County in 2006 and greatly enjoyed boating, fishing, crabbing and weekends at Queens Creek Flea Market where she made many friends. She loved her Corgi, Sadie Bay Lady who was always nestled in her lap. She also felt a special bond with Chincoteague Island, VA where she and Wayne frequently vacationed.
Linda was first diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2011 while still employed at Cheatham Annex. She kept a positive attitude and a big smile during the years of treatment to the end. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all the caregivers at Riverside Hospital, Hospice workers and especially those at the Riverside Cancer Center who she considered family. Her beautiful smile and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Linda’s life will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 5th, 2019 at Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Susan, VA. All of her friends are invited to attend this celebration. If you would like, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia is assisting the family with the arrangements.
