Little Willie (Pete) O’Neal of Warner, VA, born June 7, 1947, slipped peacefully away at his home to be with his Saviour, Jesus Christ, on October 22, 2016 after a valiant struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Pete was born in Wanchese, NC and grew up on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He spent most of his life working on or near the water fishing, building and repairing boats, and working on tugboats. He eventually settled in Middlesex County, VA where he became very involved in community outreach programs through Hands Across Middlesex and his church, Glebe Landing Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He was always willing to give a hand to anyone in need and loved working with wood. Pete was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was very proud to have served his country. Pete is survived by his wife of 23 years, Gail Haughton O’Neal, three children, Kimberly Brown (Randy), Chrissy McCamy (Kevin), and Laurie O’Neal (Liz), two step-children, Paul Cunningham (Roni) and Elizabeth Kennedy (Terry), and seven grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home in Saluda on Friday, October 28, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 29, at noon at Glebe Landing Baptist Church, 1439 Glebe Landing Road, Laneview, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Glebe Landing Baptist Church, 858 Country Lane, Laneview, VA 22504.
