Lucy Chenery

Lucy Tyler Thrift Chenery, 87, of Glen Allen, died Saturday, September 15, 2018. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Richard L. Chenery III. She is also survived by her sister Louise Thrift Owens, her sister-in-law Dolly Wilson Thrift, her devoted niece Karen Lynn Owens, and her nephews, James Wilson Thrift, Mark Tyler Thrift, and Kenneth Wilson Owens.

She was a graduate of Longwood College, Class of 1950. After graduation she taught for two years at Crewe High School and then worked as a chemist for the Commonwealth of Virginia, retiring there after thirty years of service. In retirement she volunteered with the Henrico County School System as a GED tutor for ten years. She loved traveling and was a member of the Commonwealth Chapter of the DAR, The Woman’s Club, The Tuckahoe Woman’s Club, The Wyndham Garden Club, and Shady Grove United Methodist Church.

A funeral service will be held 2pm on Wednesday, September 19 at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda, Va. A graveside service will follow at Middlesex Memorial Cemetery in Urbanna.
