Mabel Matthews

Mabel Matthews, 99, went to be with her heavenly Father on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at her daughter's home. Mabel was born on October 21, 1916 in Diggs, VA. She was an active member of Mathews Chapel Church for over 70 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie B. Matthews and her son, Harold Rainier, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Janet R. Deagle and son Robert Martin Rainier, Sr. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 6 -8-pm at Mathews Chapel Church in Cobbs Creek, VA. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 2:00 pm in Mathews Chapel Church with burial to follow in Haynes Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mabel's memory to Mathews Chapel Building Fund, P.O. Box 125, Cobbs Creek, VA 23035.
