Mabel Clark Williams, age 91, of Hartfield, VA, widow of Captain William Wellington Williams (Billy), passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. She was preceded in death by her son, George Edward Williams, one sister and three brothers. She is survived by her son, William H. Williams and wife Chris, her sisters: Martha Jean Soles, Betty Mae Williams, Faye Hicks and Norma Blake; grandchildren: Gwen Marie Davis and husband Alan, Mark Edward Williams and wife Kylie; five great-grandchildren, Sam, Eloise and Wells Davis, Noah and Emme Williams; many nieces and nephews and loving friends. Mabel was born on July 9, 1922 in Callao, VA to Herbert and Lola Self Clark. Mabel and Billy raised their two sons in Remlik, VA prior to moving to Horse Point in 1954. She was a member of Hermitage Baptist Church in Church View for over fifty years and served on the Women’s Missionary Union, Hospitality Committee, was a Sunday school teacher and served in other church activities. Mabel will be remembered for the love she had for her family and friends, the many children that enriched her life and who will forget her crab cakes and pound cake. Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 at Hermitage Baptist Church, Church View. Interment church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, Nov 22 (today) from 5 to 7pm at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda.
