Marion H. Thrift, 84, a long time resident of Woods Cross Roads, passed away suddenly at her home on Sunday, September 2, 2012. She was homemaker after an early career as a beautician. Marion was a beautiful knitter and seamstress, no pattern was too difficult for her. Also, she was an excellent cook who loved having her family in her kitchen to tempt with her delicious creations. She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Buck” Thrift, a son, James Marion Thrift; by her parents, Eddie and Bessie Hogge; three sisters, Agnes Johnson, Olivia Daniel and Frances Hogge; a brother, Eugene “Buster” Hogge; and a nephew, Herbie Hogge. Marion or “Nanny” leaves to cherish her memory, a son Charles “Chuckie” Foster (Alison), and grandson, Tyler; step-daughter, Muriel Fudala; two brothers, Charles “Fred” Hogge (Pauline), and John Hogge (Sheila); one sister, Grace Bernoski (Eddie); a very devoted nephew, Morris Mason Cameron (Alice); and numerous nieces and nephews. Many thanks and much love to Joyce, Lora, Tracey and Hope. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 7th, at the Salem United Methodist Church, Gloucester, conducted by Rev. Rita L. Staul. Interment will be in the church cemetery followed by a luncheon in the church social hall. The family will receive friends from 4-7:00 p.m. Thursday at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda.
