Mary Ellen Brown

Mary Ellen Norman Brown of Urbanna was born August 2, 1949, to Robert and Jennie Norman and she went to be with her Lord on December 28, 2018. She is survived by her husband of fifty years, Thames Brown, and two daughters, Shaaron Brown and Victoria B. Powell (Barry) and three grandchildren, Nathan, Madelynn and Alex. She is also survived by her brother, Lewis Norman (Phyllis), a sister, Linda Carlton (Bennie) and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Ellen was an active member of Urbanna Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher and served on various other committees. She was a past member of the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. She was employed as a legal secretary for two years and continued her secretarial career working for the Commonwealth of Virginia for thirty-seven years as an office/secretarial manager with the Department of Corrections. Mary Ellen loved nature, gardening, baking, being creative, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Urbanna Baptist Church with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Middlesex Memorial Cemetery, Urbanna.
