Mary Elizabeth Wade (“Mac”), beloved resident of Deltaville, VA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the age of 88. Mrs. Wade was born Mary Elizabeth McNally in Prince Edward County in 1926, the eldest of 10 children. Working in Richmond as a young woman, she met and married Willie J. Wade, Jr. They managed several restaurants in Richmond while raising their three children. After moving the family to Deltaville in 1972, she owned and operated Taylor’s Restaurant for 30 years. Mrs. Wade was a kind, generous, and hard-working lady, who touched many lives with her grace, humor, and spirit. She was recognized as a Grand Marshall in the Deltaville Heritage Day parade in 2007 for her lifetime of dedicated service to the community. She was devoted to her large family, loved her work, and lived her life with energy and integrity.
Mrs. Wade is survived by her siblings, Ann Tucker, Joan Harding, Paul McNally, Ruby Bell, Violet Barlow, and Ethel (Topsy) Sutton; her children, Ray Wade (Terry), Trisha Butler (Jr.), Kevin Wade (Susan) and step-son Elton J. Wade; her grandchildren, Ray Wade, Jr., Stacy Wade, Amanda Johnson, Kelly Lipford, Rennie Johnson, and Alex Wade; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Willie J. Wade, Jr., and siblings Johnny McNally, Robert McNally, and Shirley Drganc.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 20th at 3 pm at Zoar Baptist Church in Deltaville, with reception to follow. Burial will be held at Washington Memorial Park in Sandston, on Friday, August 21st at 10 am.
