Mattie Smith

Mattie Robinson Smith, 90, of Water View died Sunday, July 12, 2015.  She was the widow of Carter Smith.  A retired beautician, she was an avid bowler, loved dancing, and going to baseball games.  Mattie was also instrumental in getting the Upper Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department in Water View established and was a charter member of the women’s auxiliary.  She was predeceased by a son, Walter E. Smith.  Survived by her children, Mary Noirot (Maurice), Andrew C. “Tom” Smith (Linda); sisters, Alice, Frances, Lena Mae; and a brother, George; grandchildren, Aaron Anderson (Janie), Danny Smith, Beth Cook, Jimmy Smith (Misty), Eric Smith (Stephanie); and eight great-grandchildren.  A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Hermitage Baptist Church, Church View.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Hermitage Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 190, or the Upper Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 75 both in Church View, VA 23032.  Arrangements by Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda.
