Michael Keefer, age 53, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Mike is survived by his longtime love, Sharon Crawford; his beloved daughter, Elizabeth Keefer; his parents, Dorothy and Randall Keefer; his brother, Gregory Keefer; nephew, Greg; and nieces, Gracie and Haizley. In addition to his immediate family, Mike leaves behind a host of extended family and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his sister, Melissa.
Mike was born in Hampton, VA and spent his early years there, and spent most of the rest of his life in Gloucester, VA.
Mike was a talented guy. Not only was he renowned for his amazing guitar chops (especially ‘80’s rock), he was equally talented in his upholstery skills, and ran a successful business, Mike’s Mobile Canvas, where he did everything from creating custom marine upholstery to recovering antique chairs. He was sought-after in his profession. He took pride in his work, and it showed.
Mike loved being on stage playing music or in his studio jamming with friends. He also loved the Kansas City Chiefs, a good round of golf, pizza, whistling, and naps.
Mike didn’t pull any punches; he would tell you like it is, but he had a heart of gold. He loved his family. He loved giving gifts. He’d be the first to extend a helping hand to a stranger. He enjoyed paying it forward. He called his mom every single day - twice. He was one of a kind, and he will be missed beyond measure.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date. Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda is assisting the family.
