Mildred Marie “Millie” Atherton, 79, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023. She was born on October 10, 1943 in Cobbs Creek, Virginia.
Millie was a caregiver and loved gardening, fishing, lighthouses and going to the beach in Nags Head, NC.
Millie was predeceased by her parents, Grover and Alma Armistead; husband, George Calvin Atherton, Jr. and two brothers, James Armistead and Ralph Armistead.
She is survived by her children, Keith Armistead, Troy Armistead, Amy Armistead and Joey Atherton (Grace); grandchildren, Aaron Forrest, Kyle Shipley, Tanner Sears; sisters, Joyce Hudgins and Mary Jenkins; a brother, William Armistead (Gloria) and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow at Haynes Cemetery, Cobbs Creek, Virginia.
