Mildred Diggs

December 31, 1969 — March 19, 2018

Mildred Hudgins Diggs, born November 3, 1923 went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Monday, March 19, 2018.

She was born and raised in Mathews County and was an active member of Beulah United Methodist Church. She was involved for many years with the United Methodist Women, Chesapeake Bay Chapter of The King's Daughters, and The Mathews County Woman's Club. She married the love of her life on March 25, 1945, Joseph Randolph Diggs, and they spent 60 years of marriage together. She enjoyed spending time with family, time spent in Louisiana and annual family beach trips. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Randolph Diggs and great grandson Tucker Allen Armstrong. She is survived by her son Joseph Brian Diggs and his wife Beverly; her grandchildren Jennifer Diggs Gay (Ray) and Leslie Diggs Armstrong (Scott); her great grandchildren Barrett, Josephine, Cambell and Levi Gay and McKenzie and Lucas Armstrong.The family would like to thank Riverside-Mathews Convalescent Center for all of their love and care. A Service to celebrate Mildred's life will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at 3pm at Beulah United Methodist Church, 7558 New Point Comfort Hwy., New Point, VA 23138. Burial will follow at St. Paul Annex Cemetery, Susan, VA. The family will receive friends at the church from 2-3pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation, 5211 West Broad St., Suite 102, Richmond, VA 23230 or to Harrisonburg/ Rockingham County Young Life, P.O. Box 1433, Harrisonburg, VA 22803. Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, VA is assisting the family with the arrangements.
