Milton Parker Ward, 88, of Deltaville passed away on January 7, 2018 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, Gloucester VA. He was a faithful member of Philippi Christian Church. Known to all as “Mit,” he was a lifelong captain of buyboats, freighters, tug boats and barges for Waterfreight Inc. (Ward brothers). After following in his father’s footsteps, Milton retired from the family business in 1991.
He was preceded in death by his father, John T. Ward known as “Captain Johnny”; mother, Iva D. Ward; brother, John Melvin Ward Sr.; and nephew, Thomas Edward Ward. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, wife, Effie Elizabeth Ward; sons, Stephen Warren Ward and husband Robert M. Lucas, Randy Allen Ward and wife Margaret Bunting Ward, Mark Weston Ward and wife Shirley Hubbard Ward. Milton was the proud grandfather of, Rebecca Terrell Ward-Callaham, Zackery Dowell Ward, Sara Moore Ward, (Brock Lyndell Parrish, Sr.) Parker Allen Ward, and great-grand father of Patricia Judith Parrish, Brock Lyndell Parrish Jr., and Riley Catharine Parrish. He is survived by brother, Floyd Thomas Ward. He is the uncle of Linda Ward Fears, Floyd Gene Ward, John Melvin Ward Jr., Kenneth Wayne Ward, and Gary Howard Ward.
Funeral services will be held at Philippi Christian Church on January 10th at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda VA, on Tuesday January the 9th.
