Morgan Clements Pritchett, age 78, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at his home at Cobbs Creek, Virginia after a short illness. He graduated from Mathews High School in 1953 and from the University College, University of Richmond with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in 1963. He served in the Air National Guard from 1956 until 1963. After 40 years of service, he retired from Reynolds Metals Co in 1997 and moved back to the Mathews County. Morgan was a member of Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church and Chairman of the Church Council. He was a member of Lane Armistead Camp #1772, Sons of Confederate Veterans and was Co-Chairman of the Mathews County Committee for the Civil War Sesquicentennial. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maude and Clifford Pritchett. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doris Shipley Pritchett; two daughters and their husbands, Anne and John Huff and Mary and Jeff Mawyer; three granddaughters, Carrie, Katie, and Kahla and one grandson, Josh and many close relatives and life long friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 27, 2014 from 5 -8 pm at Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church, Cobbs Creek, VA. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 2 pm at Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church with burial to follow in St. Paul Annex Cemetery, Susan, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Morgan to the Mathews Chapel Building Fund, P.O. Box 125, Cobbs Creek, VA 23035.
