Mr. Gordon Minter Jones, 81, of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2014.
Gordon was born on May 22, 1932, in Bohannon, Va. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1971. He had a love for the great outdoors and his passions were hunting and fishing. Gordon enjoyed time with family, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his dog Buddy.
Gordon will be sadly missed by his wife, Charlotte; children, Robert, Sands (Christine), Karen Barrick (Tim), Patricia White (Gerry) and Judy Zanette (Shawn Creed); grandchildren, Robert, Allen (Jessica), Jason Barrick (Mel), Ashley johnson (Jon), Megan Merritt, Chantelle, Matthew, and Dylan Zanette; great-grandchildren, Avori Jones, Macy and Jacob Johnson. Gordon is also survived by his brother, Gerald (Joann); nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was predeceased by his parents, Sands Gordon and Mary Aylene Jones.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Emmanuel United Methodist Church at Bohannon. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. at the church.
If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Emmanuel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 628, North, Va. 23128 would be greatly appreciated.
