MSGT. Kenneth McAuley Sr. (USAF Retired) departed this life on April 25, 2018 after a battle with Alzheimers. He was a man known to many and by many names some of which include “Mr. Ken, Dad, Brother, Pop Pops, Pops, Popeye, Money and Maytag”. Born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 23, 1929, but grew up in Notasulga, Alabama until entering the United States Air Force (USAF) in November, 1948.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his loving wife Annie Jo, Daughter Judith, and Son Kyle. Kenneth entered the USAF and was stationed at Kirtland AFB New Mexico, Warner Robbins AFB Georgia, Bentwaters RAF Station, England, Patrick AFB, Florida, Andrews AFB Maryland, Okinawa Japan, and last at Andrews AFB Maryland where he Retired 1 January 1969. Following his Military Service Kenneth entered into Federal Civil Service in Bureau of Engraving and Printing, US Treasury until he retired and relocated to Hardyville, Virginia in 1989. Kenneth was Life Member and Past Commander of American Legion Post 82, Saluda, Virginia and a Life Member and Past Adjutant of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 58, Gloucester, Virginia. Kenneth is survived by his children Kenneth McAuley Jr. (Darlene) and Keith McAuley (Cathy).
His is also survived by 8 Grandchildren, V. Lynne Parker, Katie McCue (Chris), Christina McDermott, Amanda Keithley (Jason), Teresa McMahon (Tony), Kellie Booth (Jay), Melanie McAuley, Tyler McAuley and 14 Great Grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda on Monday, April 30th at 5:00 P.M. A reception will follow at the American Legion Post 82, 192 Watson Landing, Saluda, Virginia.
