Myrtle Faulkner

Myrtle Virginia Blake Davis Faulkner, 91, of Locust Hill passed away Friday, September 30, 2016. Myrtle was the owner and operator of Mizpah Health Care Center from 1969 until 2015. She was a life member, historian and former organist of Harmony Grove Baptist Church where she served on the Board of Trustees. She served as a member of The Advisory Board on Aging, Commonwealth of Virginia Statewide Health Coordinating Council and The Governor’s Advisory Council. Myrtle was also a member of The American Health Care Association, Virginia Health Care Association and received the National Award from HUD for high performance in 2000. She was a member of the Oriental Chapter No. 30 O.E.S., Mathews County and the Garden Club of Middlesex County. Myrtle was a life member of the Middlesex County Woman’s Club, Urbanna and the Red Hat Society. She was the widow of John D. Davis, Sr. and Charles William Faulkner, Sr. Survived by her daughters, Martha D. Cottingham (Don) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Ann Carleton Davis Gresham of Locust Hill; her son, John Dallas Davis, Jr. (Mary Ann) of Locust Hill. Five step-children; Jeanne F. Ames (John) of Bowling Green, Susan Lee Bailey (Frank) of Chesterfield, Shannon Kay Faulkner also of Chesterfield. Charles W. Faulkner, Jr. (Joanie) of King William, Gregg C. Faulkner (Valerie) of Charlotte, N.C.; sisters, Nell Weston of Deltaville and June Edwards of Northern Virginia. Nineteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday, October 3, 2016 from 6 until 8 p.m. in the Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2016 in Harmony Grove Baptist Church, Topping. Burial will follow in the Middlesex Memorial Cemetery, Urbanna. Memorial donations may be made to Harmony Grove Baptist Church Scholarship Fund or to the Bell Choir P.O. Box 138, Topping, VA 23169 and or to Middlesex County Volunteer Rescue P.O. Box 98, Deltaville, VA 23043.
