Nancy R. Cleaver, 90, of Deltaville, formerly of Colonial Heights, passed away November 16. 2012. Nancy was born September 6, 1922 the daughter of William W. and Ella Mae Roane in Newport News. She graduated from Morrison High School and attended (Farmville State Teacher’s College (Longwood University). Nancy was active in several civic organizations, including Scouting, the Women’s Club in Colonial Heights, and volunteering for the Deltaville Library and Red Cross Blood Mobile, A life-long Episcopalian, she was a founding member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Colonial Heights and later an active parishioner at Christ Church Parish, Christchurch, Va. Nancy with her ready smile, love of family, friends and a compassion for water, found in retirement from her work as school secretary for 22 years at North Elementary School in Colonial Heights, a sense of joy, contentment and peace at her home on the Chesapeake Bay. Nancy was predeceased by her first husband, Walter H. Fowler and second husband, Charles M. Cleaver, Jr.. She is survived by her children Walter D. Fowler (Cynthia); Beverly F. Canada (David), sister Dorothy R. Seward (Eugene); step-sons Charles M. Cleaver, III (deceased), Eric Cleaver ( Lou); grandchildren Blythe Hogeboom (Patrick) William Fowler (Paula), Todd Fowler (Chris Carter); Erin W. Banty (William); step-granddaughter Erica Wilhide (John), step-grandsons John Eric and Ralph Cleaver; seven great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter, nephews and great-nephews. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 10:30 a.m., at Christ Church Parish (Episcopal), Route 33, Christchurch, Virginia. Interment Service will be at Southlawn Cemetery, 1911 Birdsong Road, Petersburg, Va,, Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in loving memory of Nancy R. Cleaver to Deltaville Library, 35 Lovers Lane, Deltaville, VA 23043, Christ Church (Episcopal), Route 33, Saluda, Virginia 23149 or Hospice of Virginia Foundation, 1700 Bayberry Court, Suite 300, Richmond, Virginia 23226.
