Nancy Ann (Hickey) Johnson, RN
Mrs. Johnson, of Hartfield, VA, died in her home Monday, January 28, 2019. Born on May 29, 1938 in Detroit Michigan, Nancy was the eldest child of the late Major Dan Leroy Hickey, USAF (Ret) and June Eleanor Tarran Hickey of Dayton, OH.
An Air Force brat, Nancy grew up in Michigan, Texas, Korea, California, and back to Texas where she met her loving husband of 62 years, David Urban Johnson, Jr., who survives her. Devoted wife, mother, and Grandma; nurse, baker, seamstress, bridge whiz; inn keeper to visiting relatives, West Point Cadets and Naval Academy Midshipmen, Nancy took life as it came and found it good. She had a song for everything from boo-boos to hot dogs to just-because.
Nancy found joy in making life pleasant for others: a thoughtful and long-time friend to many. For the past 30 years she was a devout, long-standing member of Lower United Methodist Church and a devoted member of the Martha Circle.
Nancy is survived also by her three sons and their wives, Dan and Joyce Johnson, Ken and Georgia Johnson, Jim and Laura Johnson; grandchildren, Max and his wife Fiona Johnson, Meredith and her husband Al Monica, Christian, William, Caroline, Andrew, David, and Emily Johnson; and her siblings, sister Jeanette and her husband Bill Sharp, sister Debby and her husband Jim Sillery, sister Danna Keele, brother Dan and his wife Jen Hickey, and sister Katherine Hickey.
Services will be held at Lower United Methodist Church, Hartfield, VA, on Saturday, February 2, 2019: visitation at 10:00 a.m., memorial service at 11:00 a.m., internment at noon, and a reception immediately following.
