Nathan "Jonesy" Payne

Nathan Jones “Jonsey” Payne, 89, of Urbanna, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Nov. 18, 1934 in Urbanna.

Jonsey is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Shirley Fauber Payne; their sons, Nathan Anthony Payne and Jeffery Scott Payne (Tracy); four grandchildren, Jeffery Scott Payne Jr. (Taylor), Allison Hope Bolt (Skyler), Brittin Michelle Payne, Avary Lewis Payne; step-grandson, Jackson Touchberry (Sarah), expecting his first great-grandson later this year; and a community full of nephews and nieces.

A celebration of Jonsey’s life is planned for 3 p.m. Sunday, May 26, at the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department building in Urbanna.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 71, 330 Virginia St., Urbanna, VA 23175 and the Middlesex County Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 98, 17684 General Puller Hwy., Deltaville, VA 23043.
