Neal E. Messer beloved husband of Maxine Messer went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 2, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. God saw you were getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So, he put his arms around you and whispered, "Come to Me". With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating. Hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. Neal was born on July 21, 1928 to the late Alvin Messer and Nellie Messer. He was predeceased by twin brothers, Floyd & Lloyd Messer. Leaving to cherish his memories is his wife, Maxine; one daughter, Carol Oates; one granddaughter, Farin and two great-granddaughters. He was a member of Westville Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He loved being out in the water fishing and working in his little garden. We would like to thank hospice and give a special thanks to Pam, Jonathan, Becky and Gina who showed so much love and compassion to my husband and I. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia is assisting the family with the arrangements.
