Nell Riggs

Nell A. Riggs, 92, of Mathews, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. She was a member of New Point Friends Church in New Point, Virginia. She loved crocheting, reading and going out to eat often with her family.

Nell was predeceased by her husband, Robert P. Riggs, Sr.; her parents, Harvey Ellis and Colleen Brady; a daughter, Colleen Atwell; two sons, Robert and Fred Atwell and a step-son, Robert Riggs, Jr. She loved our little Chihuahua, “Ruby” who stayed in her lap all the time.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Bartly and three sons, Michael Riggs (Birdie), Frank Atwell (Bobbie) and James Riggs; ten grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

A Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia immediately followed by a visitation that will last until 4:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Alamance Memorial Park, 4039 S. Church Street, Burlington, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Point Friends Church, P.O. Box 32, Susan, Virginia 23163.
