Nellie Walton Blake, 87, passed peacefully October 4, 2019, in St. Petersburg, Florida after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was a resident of Topping and Sandston, Virginia before relocating to Florida in recent years. Nellie was always a caregiver. She was a hard worker and rarely sat still. She was self-less and found great joy in serving and caring for others. She never met a stranger, always having a story or a joke to share. She cherished her time spent with friends and family.
Her sons, Herbert Blake and Andrew Blake, daughter Patricia Turner, sisters Christine Edwards and Hilda Isaacs, and brother Charles Walton preceded her in death. She is survived by two children, Jackie Taylor (David) of St. Petersburg, Florida and Robert Blake (Carolyn) of Suffolk, Virginia; three brothers, James Lee Walton, William Walton and Lloyd Walton, sister Rebecca Walden, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m, Friday October 11th, at Harmony Grove Baptist Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery with a reception to follow. Arrangements by Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda.
